Abstract本書所收,為甯瑪派(rNying ma)近代大學者文殊勝海不敗尊者(’Jam mgon mi pham rgya mtsho, 1846-1912,譯音密彭絳措)所造,闡述如來藏義理的兩篇論典 ── 《獅子吼開許他空》(gZhan stong khas len seng ge’i nga ro)及《獅子吼廣說如來藏》(bDe gshegs snying po’i stong thun chen mo seng ge’i nga ro)。
佛家諸宗無不立二諦,唯甯瑪派認為若依了義實不必安立,但為隨順學人的成見,以為不說二諦即非佛學,故亦權宜以立二諦。於不敗尊者的年代,挑戰如來藏者即由二諦挑戰,故不敗尊者於論著中即時時提到二諦,於其所造的《決定寶燈》(Nges shes rin po che’i sgron me),更用兩品的篇幅專談二諦。此處譯出的兩篇論典亦不例外,即主要依二諦以明如來藏,尤其於《開許他空》一篇,更闡明何者堪為勝義,由是開許他空見之「勝義不空」。於《廣說如來藏》一篇,則依自宗了義大中觀見而隨順世間安立,姑且施設法身為勝義,將法身本具功德稱為世俗。然而二者實不可分離,因此唯有說勝義與世俗恆時雙運。一旦明白大中觀施設二諦之原則,即知不能建立勝義空、世俗有。
