Abstract轉讀和唱導是南北朝佛教的重要弘法手段,慧皎從”悟俗可崇”、”應機務俗”的角度與以高度重視,在<高僧傳>中創立兩門新科予以記載。本文認為,<經師>科注重的是音聲梵制自身在華夏的傳承和發展,而<唱導>科則注重對佛法教義的宣揚提倡,對民眾心智的開發導引。簡而言之,轉讀是在”唱”,唱導是在”說”,是各具特色的不同的表現藝術形式。從前學術界普遍將二者混為一談,統歸入音樂範疇,是對唱導之”唱”的誤解。佛教表現藝術演化至南北朝,演變成以中國式的唱導因緣與中國化的轉讀梵唄相結合為主。正是由於眾多的唱導僧人投入創造性的類似後世”俗耕”的宗教實踐活動,外來佛教表現藝術才完成了向本土佛教表現藝術的轉化過程。
