| Abstract | NHK的《西藏度亡經》專題節目引發的日本佛教界關於生命觀的討論,主要圍繞該書宣揚的"中有"說而展開。以中澤新一為代表的一派認為它反映了藏傳密教的最高教義——大圓滿法的精義,甚至是三萬年來人類關於生命的參究和證悟的結晶。而以山口瑞鳳和袴谷憲昭等為代表的一派則認為該書的"中有"說是在對佛教教義誤讀基礎上,雜糅婆羅門教、西藏苯教的靈魂說而成立的靈魂實在論。它不僅違背佛教的"無我"教義,而且其修行方法有違背佛教戒律的危險性。《西藏度亡經》雖然與藏族人的臨終關懷問題聯系在一起,但從日本佛教界的臨終關懷的理念和實踐看,本書未必具有跨文化的理論普遍性。兩派關于"中有"說的爭論,源于密教的體證主義與"批判佛教"所主張的佛教的理性主義之間的方法論的對立。
