Abstract佛教三學，即戒、定、慧，乃修學次第，以戒學為基礎，持戒修定，依定發慧。三學之中，戒學為首，可知戒在佛教體系中佔有非常重要的地位。佛教的戒律是約束、規範信眾，特別是出家信徒的行為準則；同時也是佛教“凈化自身”、“利益人群”的基礎。在今天倡導構建和諧社會的背景下，討論佛教戒律的現代價值意義猶大，可以為道德的、法律的建設提供借鑒作用。本文擬從戒律的根本精神、基本內容、實踐途徑來探討戒律的現代意義。
