Abstract佛教的心理論,又稱為心識論. 它不僅是倫理的,更包含宗教的,哲學的意思. 當我們在三界輪迴遭苦惱,或脫離輪迴享受幼槃之樂,全是心的緣故. 我們的命運全由心來決定時,此亦稱為由心論,也是成後來大乘佛教中的唯識思想的先驅. 原來在原始佛教說明由心生起的善惡行為,其經驗不會消失斷絕,且會持續業的勢力到受報為止. 此種勢力或稱為潛在力或潛在心. 潛在力在部派時,如說一切有部則視為無表,經部則以種子說來繼承. 直到唯識法相學就轉化為阿賴耶識的先驅思想,即潛在識的產生. 但大乘唯識思想處理潛在識時,是視其為不斷變化的心識. 由此,唯識學被稱為法相學. 對照於心性本淨而發展為後來的如來藏清淨說來看,心識有法相和法性看法不同的分歧. 甚至發展到最後變成法相和法性統合融和的傾向出現.
