Abstract「二諦」本為印度佛教各傳統和宗派共同關注的課題; 在中國東晉末年,隨《中論》,《成實論》等的譯出,「二諦」思想開始受到注意。在南北朝時代,「二諦」成最流行的佛教觀念之一。當時的中國佛教學者就二諦的辭義,二諦的種類與二諦間的關係等諸方面,紛紛提出意見。其中被譽為隋代三大法師之一的慧遠,在其代表作《大乘義章》中,更有探討二諦問題的專章,而其討論之全面與客觀,及所反映的自家教學之特點,是值得學者留意的。
本文根據慧遠《大乘義章 二諦義》一章,分作三節來闡述慧遠的二諦觀。文中第一節解釋「二諦」的名義。第二節說明慧遠如何把佛教的學理分為「四宗」:立性宗,破性宗,破相宗與顯實宗,並在《大乘義章 二諦義》中詳細析述每一宗的二諦觀,從而顯示慧遠於二諦問題所採取的立場. 第三節則針對「二諦即離」的論題,說明慧遠的看法。
