| Abstract | The paper examines the tibetan dge lugs pa school's exegesis on the question of the "svatantra"，a form of logical syllogism that was controversial in the madhyamaka school of indian buddhist scholasticism. it shows how this school's commitment to linguistic discourse and rationality leads to an interpretation of the critique of the "svatantra" that allows for a repudiation of this form of reasoning while maintaining the validity of logic and inference in general. |
