Abstract千手，是救人的. 譬如有一千個人掉到海裏，你有兩隻手，一隻手救一個， 只可救兩個人; 若有千手，把千手往海裡一伸，就可把一千個要淹死的人都給提上來. 你說這千隻手有什麼用? 救人啊. 所以「千眼照見，千耳遙聞，千手護持」，哪一個眾生有什麼苦惱，你有一千隻手，就伸一隻把他救出苦海; 若就兩隻手，就救不了那麼多人. 所以觀世音菩薩的千手千眼，是預備救人的，不是預備偷東西的.
