Abstract佛教自傳入中土以來,就一直與中土的儒道思想彼此發生既融合又批判的局面,但總的方向是走向三教合一。此趨勢,盛於唐宋時,至宋明而大成。本文以南宋大慧宋杲禪師對儒釋的見解為考察的中心,透過以下章節:(一)前言,(二)大慧宗杲所面臨的時代問題,(三)大慧對時代問題的回應,(四)大慧對儒釋的看法,(五)大慧的看話禪,(六)結論,來論述。大慧的看話禪是本著大乘佛教的精神,關心世間,接受儒家的忠孝倫理。究竟他是如何來論證「儒即釋,釋即儒」?他常採用所謂的「殊途同歸」、「名異體同」等策略,其實均只是表面而非究極,其極歸本於悟,於悟中現其不分別也。此儒釋合流的禪法,正好與當時天童正覺走道釋合流的默照禪法相對照。他們各自代表臨濟宗與曹洞宗在宋代二大禪宗的流別,其一偏主禪儒合一,另一偏主禪道合一,其間的互諍,似乎又映現了先秦儒道互諍的影子。由於本文的目的僅在論及大慧儒釋合流的思想,所以,有關天童正覺的默照禪法,僅在行文時略為提及,以便對照而已,其詳有待後續研究。
