Abstract本文借用元照在《小止觀序》中所指的「承」,「悟」,「修」,「說」四個環節,考察天台智顗遠紹釋迦牟尼,龍樹,近承慧文,慧思的法脈道統,在大蘇山慧思門下證悟法華三昧,進而入天台山頭陀苦行,最後出山弘傳止觀學說的過程. 智顗一生歷經二個「自行化他」的修道過程,他的主貢獻是將慧文,慧思開創的止觀法門體系化,使禪師自身修證實踐的「行止觀」,變為在更廣闊範圍中向大眾「說止觀」的社會實踐. 本文把天台宗的創立,放在當時剛剛興起的末法意識背景下,以觀照慧思,智顗在地域上由北向南的轉移,終於以北方禪學統合南方義學,完成大乘實相禪法的「法門改轉」. 天台大師定慧雙開的止觀學說,不僅整合了南北學風,更重要的意義在,這是一代佛教領袖,面對教內外滅法破法的末法衰相,為使正法久住而尋求的因應之道,故對當代中國佛教亦有警示意義.
