| Abstract | 東西方的文化，語言不同。本書主張西方的思維方式是「一分為二」，是分析式的；東方的思惟方式是「合二為一」，是綜合式的。東方文化綜今的思維特點，可用八個字形容：「普遍聯繫，整體概念」。從本體論而言，人和萬物相互聯繫，宇宙和人都是整體。表現在語言文學上，中國詩歌與禪趣密切相繫，予人感悟式；形象式的話語，予人整體概念和整體印象。東、西文化的變遷，則是「三十年河東，三十年河西」。現今，正是東方與西方相互學習的時代。
