Abstract禪宗主張「不由經教」、直指人心、頓悟成佛,使禪悟呈現出電光石火的迅捷直截。但「不由經教」,並不意味著對經教的廢棄。要明心見性,又須藉由經教,自證自悟,「以心印心」,即是以師家之心,印證學人之心,使之契合佛陀之心。而要想契合佛陀之心,經教是必由之路。因此,「不由經教」只不過是說不可執泥於經教,經教仍是禪悟的重要依據。如果廢棄經教,便會墮於盲禪的末流。「不由經教」與「由教悟宗」,如車之二輪,鳥之雙翼,缺一不可。將二者圓融會通,對禪宗的健康發展,有著積極的意義。
