| Abstract | 世俗化是個褒貶不一、人言言殊的概念。現代宗教學將宗教的存在，定位在人的基礎上，既然如此，宗教的世俗化就是不可避免的現象。然而，正如宗教在傳播過程中，對社會的適應有其必然性，宗教的神聖化同樣具有永久的活力。本文以在河北趙縣柏林寺發現的「大金沃州柏林禪院三千邑眾碑」為例，探討「社邑」這個廣泛存在於中國古代社會中的佛教組織，對佛教中國化所具有的決定性意義。認為此碑文引述的《萬善同歸集》的禪教一致等思想，及對造像、建福活動意義的闡釋，反映了中國佛教趨於世俗化的軌跡。如何在世俗社會中高揚神聖的意義，仍是佛教界和學術界有待探討的重大課題。
