Abstract佛涅磐後,迦葉、阿難、優婆離、富樓那等五百阿羅漢,為住持正法,防止證謬,得阿世王的外護,于王舍城七葉岩窟結集經律論藏。同時有萬阿羅漢因不被邀請,自念我等同受佛教,亦應令法久住,廣利有情,上了佛恩,以婆師婆為首別行集結經律論藏,並雜藏禁咒。同時結集,既有兩地,因稱迦葉等結集為界內結集,婆師婆結集為界外結集。界內多是佛時上座弟子,香年碩德,因稱上座。受持其所結經律依之修行者為上座部。界外萬人,不但人數眾多,亦因多造後進,位望不尊,總名大眾。師徒傳授因名大眾部。又兩部集結,一是由國王護持,一是由群眾組合,得名之異,此亦一因。我佛一代教化,攝受宏廣。佛涅磐後,分途發展,理亦宜然。設無上座部,即佛教之地...
