Note諦閑法師(1858--1932)浙江黃巖人,號卓三。畢生幸勤弘法,誨人不倦,教通三藏,學究一乘,為天臺泰斗。對近代佛教有扶衰起弊之功。且梵行高尚,弟子甚眾。一生著述宏豐,有《圓覺經講義》、《圓覺經親聞記》、《大乘止觀述記》、《教觀綱宗講義》、《金剛經新述》、《楞嚴經敘指味疏》、《始終心要略解》、《念佛三昧寶王論義疏》等書。
Abstract有人問沙門曰:“夫稟性斯質,托修異焉。但匠有殊彫(雕),故器成不一。吾聞大德,洞于究竟之理,鑒于玄廓之宗。故以策修,冀聞正法爾。”
  有人問者,大師設為問端,以資發起,不必實指何人。沙門,梵語,此云勤息,勤修眾善,息滅眾惡也。以廣義言之,凡在人道,皆可稱沙門,以人人皆宜修善息惡故。然自古相承,此二字久為出家人之專稱矣,故師即以自承。善有多多,如有漏善,無漏善,二邊善等。惡亦多多,根本不外貪瞋癡。就出家人言,必須修戒定慧,息貪瞋癡。不然,非沙門也。即在圣位,亦皆如是勤息,何況凡夫耶?性者,即本書自性清凈心,乃吾人現前一念之心性是。質者體質,即是五陰色身。稟,稟受。
