| Abstract | 中國佛教界在20世紀五六十年代撰寫了一部英文版的中國佛教百科全書。項目起源于斯里蘭卡的佛教百科全書編纂計劃，在當時中國佛教協會的領導下開展。該項目留待今日尚有兩大寶貴財產：一個是由中國佛教界自己撰寫、翻譯，長達百萬字的英文版中國佛教百科全書，尚未完整出版；二是當時編譯團隊工作手稿，留存至今，成為了文物，具有豐富的知識社會史意義。本文對這一百科全書的諸種緣起進行了梳理，同時也對其知識社會史意義進行了初步探析。 |
