| 抄録 | 大成於六世紀的天台智顗的佛教思想，對一千四百年後的現代，其存在意義將進一步得到認可. 在二十一世紀，天台思想所能體現的作用，應以三點來加以概括.
(1) 天台思想，除其擁有罕見的想象力外，還構築了綜合的體系的思想方法. 這主在 "五時八教" 的教相判釋及十境十乘的止觀方法中較顯著.
(2) 天台思想，不僅有良好的平衡感覺，還有柔軟的修正能力. 比如，通過理論和實踐使全體的秩序進一步得到整理的同時，更加入空假中圓融相即的思想方法就是較顯著的一例.
(3) 天台思想，在通過與儒教道教諸思想的比較過程中，進一步明確了佛教思想的特色. 特別是對其方法及佛教因果說的特色所具的現代意義，將作一些說明.
Abstract
The significance of Tiantai Buddhist thought，which was brought to completion by Master Zhiyi in the 6th Century C.E.，for the modern world，1,400 years later，is examined here. The relevance of the Tiantai thought legacy in the 21st century can be summed up in the following three points:
1. Established a synthetic philosophical method. This is most obvious in the "classification of teachings" into the Five Times and Eight Teachings, and the method of calming and contemplation structured around the ten objects and ten vehicles.
2. Tiantai thought displays both a positive sense of balance and a gentle power of correction. To cite a relatively clear example，one is brought into the philosophical method centered on the interfusion of the Three truths of Emptiness, Provisional Positioning the Mean.
3. In the process of making comparisons to Confucian and Taoist thought，Tiantai further clarifies the special characteristics of Buddhism，especially with respect to the modern significance of its methodology and its distinctive theory of causality，which are given some exposition here. |
