抄録 | The text of two talks by Yasutani Hakuun Roshi are presented in English translation, which were recorded during the summer of 1959. The talks formed part of a series of introductory lectures on various aspects of Zen that Yasutani Roshi gives to pupils who are just beginning their “zazen” practice. In the first talk, Yasutani Roshi delineates the phenomenon of “Makȳo”—visions, hallucinations, and illusory sensations—that may be encountered by the disciple of Zen at a particular stage in his/her sitting. In the second talk, Yasutani Roshi explains the three essentials of Zen practice—“dai-shinkon” or great faith, “dai-gidan” or great doubt, and “dai-funshin” or great determination. |
