World culture subsumes the thinking, the feeling and the activities of the human race diverse as they are. There are cultural differences between societies that affect economic, the political and the educational systems, the arts and intellectual orientations, and even in the definition of peace. But, even as we apply these terms there are certain universal concepts and terms of reference that underlie them all. Buddhism contributed tremendously to enrich world culture since the 6th century BCE. In this study, we will discuss the followings: (a) what is world culture? (b) what is the impact of cultural diversity on globalization? (c) what is Buddhism’s contribution to world culture (d) why is further dialogue necessary to enrich world culture? and (e) what is the role that UNESCO plays in sustaining the development of world culture.
