Religion is flourishing in Taiwan, and temples of various sizes are everywhere, especially temples with a mixture of folk beliefs of Buddhism and Taoism, which are the most common. Taiwanese people are very devout to folk beliefs and are willing to donate to temples. After accepting donations from the people, do these temple groups give back to the general public in addition to the inheritance of religious beliefs, sacrifices, and rituals? Should they take responsibility for this society? The most important social responsibility of temple groups belonging to non-profit organizations is charity, which includes social relief, social welfare, social services, social education, community development, etc. Some of these social responsibilities can be aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs) are linked to each other. This study will discuss these temple groups belonging to folk beliefs, study their social responsibilities, and take three well-known temples in Taoyuan City for more than 100 years as examples to analyze and compare the implementation strategies and achievements of philanthropy. Looking forward to making specific suggestions and providing reference for relevant units to improve the well-being of more people.
