Amitabha accomplished Pure Land of Buddhism by forty-eight wishes and welcomed all living creatures with faith in and vow to Amitabha Buddha without return. In Pure Land with chance, Amitabha is the head and Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva are the flanking attendants. The dead with faith in other world and the disciples of Buddha are reborn in Pure Land. Past arguments on the conditions of Pure Land of Rebirth were different. Based on three books of Pure Land, this paper explores “conditions of Amitabha Pure Land of Rebirth”. Besides the introduction of Chapter 1 and conclusion of Chapter 6, the remaining four chapters elaborate on the condition of Pure Land of rebirth by common conditions, virtue conditions, exclusive conditions and special conditions. First, this paper probes into common conditions of rebirth. According to the descriptions in the classics and perspectives of the founders of Buddhism, this study generalizes the common conditions as the Three Provisions, namely faith, wish, and actions, and further provides a detailed elaboration on the content of The Three Provisions.. This chapter also clarifies the necessity of “Bodhicitta” and possibility of rebirth “with doubts” to reveal the conditions of rebirth. Secondly, this paper explores the virtue conditions based on Three Grades rebirth of Infinite Life Sutra and Three Blessings and Nine Grades of The Sutra on Contemplation of Amitayus. As to Three Grades of Da Jing, high, medium and low grades are classified according to the practice of giving, strict adhering to Buddhist precepts, mercy and wisdom of the dead. In Guan Jing, Mahayana nature, Hinayana practitioners and vicious common people are classified into three grades and nine levels. In addition, this paper elaborates the specific difference of cause and effect by the condition before death and the time to approach Buddha. Finally, does Amitabha punish the vicious people and those who libel the law? This paper further explores if the vicious people retain special treatment of ten foundations of mindfulness before death. By generalizing the rebirth conditions, this study can serve as reference with a clear direction for the practitioners’ cultivation and enhancement of their faith in Pure Land of Rebirth.
