| Abstract | 本文探討二個重要層面：
一. 影響曹雪芹思想之對生命的悲觀哲學;
二. 書中所反應之形成十八世紀中國社會生活一部份的宗教
機制 (institution) 與宗教實踐.
曹雪芹一生不幸的遭遇必然對其哲學觀產生影響，賈寶
玉的一生說明人生的悲歡和不免一死. 另外,《紅樓夢》書
中的許多地方帶有無常的哲學.《紅樓夢》反應出十八世紀
中國通俗宗教的一面，特別是流行於上層社會者，關連於佛
教和道教，部份受儒教影響，及部份摻雜著地方迷信. 此
時宗教上之最大特色是道教和佛教異常的和諧. 除書中有關
佛教和道教成份的闡釋外，亦利用相當篇幅說明傳統中國宗
教成份之祖先崇拜，巫術，鬼信仰，精靈 (spirit) 信仰.
《紅樓夢》一書除文學價值外，也提供了有關清朝中國社
會和文化的資訊.
