AbstractPeng-Hu, an island being famous with its many temples and abbeies in Taiwan. The prevalence of religion in Peng-Hu is not just observable by those many magnificent temples and abbies, but what's more-by those demigods, which also gives proof to the fact that it is the mortal that brings immortality to the religion, not the religion renders immortality upon the mortal.

There are usually religious gatherings on birthdaies of those God & Godness in the temples and abbies. Many disciples will come to prey for peace from God & Godness then, and there will always De-Tow: the leader of demigods, to be in charge of all the religious activities. De-Tow is also being called as Fa-Gwan-Tow, or Ho-Gwan-Tow, namely, the leader of all those Hsio-Fa. (Master of Rites)

There are different ancestors for various trends of Hsio-Fa, Pu-An school one of which with its ancestor being identified in this article to be the thirteenth descendants of the Ling-Tsi-Fa-Hsi in Zen, Buddhism. The conclusion was given by three traces:The history of Pu-An Zen Master in Buddhism, comparison on the outer appearance of Pu-An Zen Master between king-Men and Tainan, and thirdly, the hand gestures and the charms and incantations given by Pu-An, the religion leader in Peng-Hu.

This article is written with the wish that it might give any possible help to researches on civil religions, history or the evolution of temple and abbies, and even on domestic culture and civilizations.
