AbstractI Proposed to examine the experience of zen buddhism and traditional japanese painting, chiefly landscape,to test the hypothesis that there is an underlying similarity of structure between them. i concluded that while traditional japanese painting and zen buddhism are each unique in their specific characters, zen experience and the experience of both the maker and the beholder of japanese painting do display this similarity of structure.
