Abstract「安那般那念」是多數人熟悉修習止觀的方法,雖開展成「十六勝行」,在時空的演變下,其修習方式似乎是不同的. 又,諸經論記載上的出入,特別是關於「身行」 (梵 kaaya-sa.mskaara; 巴 kaaya-sa^nkhaara) 之說明,並不容易掌握其義,且經論中位置不一. 如:《雜阿含》803 經云:

覺知一切身行息入息 (第四勝行),於一切身行息入息善學; 覺知一切身行息出息,於一切身行息出息善學...... (大 2,206b1-3)

《坐禪三昧經》卷上云:
除諸身行 (第五勝行),亦念入出息. 初學息時,若身懈怠,睡眠,體重悉除棄之,身體柔軟隨禪定心. (大 15,275c2-3)

《瑜伽師地論》卷 27 云:
若於是時或入息,中間入息已滅,出息,中間出息未生,緣入息出息空無位,入息出息遠離位為境; 或出息,中間出息已滅...... 即於此時便做念言:「於息除身行入息 (第四勝行),我今能學息除身行入息...」 (大 30,432c12-24)

本文試由「安那般那念」的修行,按「身行」於諸經論中勝行之位置與作用,以明白「身行」之意. 筆者認為,所云「身行」皆指「出入息」; 「身行息」,「除諸身行」,「息除身行」即「身行輕安,安靜,柔軟的狀態」. 雖位置不一. 但並不影響義旨.
