Abstract「吽」字是梵語Hum之漢字音，「阿」字音為梵語字母表最初之第一個字，「吽」字音卻是最後的一個字。本《吽字義》是討論這個字母的字相及湛深的意義，且是真言密教必讀之聖典。「吽」字之字相是從顯教之立場解釋的，而其字義則從密教的立場去解釋。
