Abstract六祖禪法之宗為「無念」. 論道此「無念」法者,古今中外不計其數,但對「無念」法之典據,「無念」法之內涵及後人對「無念」法之種種誤解,似缺乏一綜合考察. 本文以佛法的經典系統為背景,分為一. 引言,二. 「無念」法之體,三. 「無念」法之宗要,四. 「無念」法之眾行,五. 「無念」法是佛法. 這五部份論述了六祖「無念」法的各個方面,指出:六祖雖悟發天真,但他所說「無念」法無不與佛典若符和契,這體現出覺悟佛法之大德自然合道的特點; 六祖宣說之「無念」法亦包含頓入與漸入之別,頓入者一念即可悟入「無念」心元,漸入者則須先破斥對「無念」法之誤解與誤修,然後始能契入; 莊嚴「無念」法之種種眾行,則是為此二種修行人施設之具體行門; 六祖宣說「無念」法所被機為上上智人,並不主張中,下智人去修此法,以易迷失故. 因此,後人由不解其法而至種種誤解,或錯認「無念」法為先尼外道,或以「無念」法為世智辨聰之「文字禪」,「口頭禪」,「野狐禪」,「狂禪」,甚或厚汙「無念」法非佛法,其過不在六祖,亦不在傳承六祖「無念」法之歷代大德.
