Buddhist documents are important data bank of Chinese linguistics.
This study uses Sin-Siou-Da-Jheng-Zang (大正新脩大藏經) and Zu-Tang-Ji (祖堂集) as basic data. To examine "ge" (個) through four steps of searching, analyzing, deducing and statistics. I find original function-word "ge" to be used in Sui-dai (隋代) Buddhist documents. It's use extensively in Tang-dai (唐代),and it produces more sentences through a combination with V.,N. and adj..
Function-word "ge"is used widely in Wu-tai (五代),the sentence is complete. It becomes a standard to be used for later ages.
The present study find out that function-word "ge" is dynamic. The function of stenxence aims at emphasis and uncertain.
Suei,tang,Wu-tai is the initine and mature period in which function-word "ge"is used. It represents the effect of the Chinese sytanx to express semantic.
Function-word "ge" is the evidence of how Chinese language develops in history.
