| Abstract | 佛滅度後的大事，是由伽葉尊者領導僧團在王舍城結集佛典，往後有所謂「毘舍離結集」 (BC 280)、「華氏城結集」 (BC 251)。結集的內容與形態的特色，可反應其時代意義。綜觀本世紀中，佛典刊行與翻譯的工作不斷，是使佛教知識普及化、佛學研究國際化的主因，也反應大眾化佛教的意義。到本世紀末，因網際網路 (Internet)的資訊時代來臨，改變人們溝通和處理資料與知識的方式，故佛典數位化 (digitalized)，或電子佛典 (electronic Buddhist Text)的需求急劇增加，故有巴利文、梵文、漢譯、藏譯等，各種佛典的數位化輸入計畫 (如﹕中華電子佛典協會，http://ccbs.ntu.edu.tw/cbeta)。今依此簡介本世紀中各種佛典的刊行與翻譯的狀況如下﹕
