| Abstract | 這一部經是我相當喜歡的一部經，因為可以很清楚地看到佛陀如何對一位外道所問的問題作分析，甚至進一步解釋他所要問的問題核心。也可能是因為佛陀相當重視這分析的方式，所以當他的弟子無法按照他的方法思辨時，他便會在言語上責備他的弟子。這一學期有機會在圓光佛學院任教，跟五位來自斯里蘭卡、泰國等的外國法師一同研討這一部經。因上課之便，就想把這部經翻成白話。沒想到原本上課是蠻輕鬆的，但真要寫成白話，就處處是問題了。才了解要把巴利語佛經翻成白話，真是一件不容易的事。因為第一步要能很清楚地了解巴利語，其中包括要讀還沒有譯本的覺音論師注解。第二是要它變成讀起來通順的白話文。所以在翻譯這部經時，除了有相當多的時間在閱讀巴利語，另外也有差不多相對等的時間是花在白話上。往往有時候從英文的理解，我已很清楚整句的意思，但總是在如何選取、拿捏恰當的中文語詞和句子上花了相當多的時間。由於沒有適當的工具書，所以時間總是翻閱各種大小、不同性質的辭典中流逝。才發覺目前我們真的缺乏好的中文工具書，可以讓我們有事半功倍的效果。所以也希望這篇小文章起個拋磚的作用，願我們早日能有實用的中文佛經工具書。本文分為兩部分，第一部分為前言，說明整部經的大意和幾位出場弟子的簡單背景。第二部分為白話翻譯，由於是初步翻譯，希望未來有機會能讓它變得更完美。
This paper is an attempt to translate the Mah A kammavibha N ga Sutta ( 分別大業經 ) , which appeared in the Majjhima-Nik A ya （ 中部尼柯耶） , into Mandarin. The present article is divided into two parts, the first part is the introduction, then followed by the translation. A parallel sutta can be found in the Madhyama A gama (T 1, 706b-708c), which is basically identify with the Pali version, with minor differences only. There are two English translations for this sutta, one is by I.B. Horner in 1959, the other one is by Bhikkhu N AN amoli and Bhikkhu Bodhi in 1995. The commentary of Buddhaghosa is also referred to in the footnote when it is available. |
