| Abstract | 天台宗智者大師所建構的修行體系龐大而法門眾多，如何知曉其適合修習的根機，成為論說修行法門的要素，亦是行者實踐成就與否的極重要關鍵，學界則尚未以此角度作全面而細緻的論述。本文之目的即在從化儀（教化方式）的角度，檢視天台宗之整體教觀體系，全盤而詳細地論究各種法門之修行根機與法門揀擇之問題，尤其是最受重視的圓教觀法。眾生之根機有多種，所適合之法門亦不同。本文分別從「化儀四教」：頓漸五時教、不定教與祕密教，與「化儀四觀」：圓頓止觀、漸次止觀、不定止觀、祕密止觀的角度，分別逐一論究修行法門之根機意義與相關問題，應有助於對法門眾多，最稱完備的天台宗修行法門之根機理論作充分的了解。
