摘要has been used as an ethical model by both Buddhist and feminist philosophers. The Tibetan Buddhist Tsong kha pa's 'Great Exposition of the Stages of the Path' ('Lam rim chen mo') advocates meditation on mothering as a way of learning to value other people as equal to oneself. Feminist Sara Ruddick's 'Maternal Thinking:Toward a Politics of Peace' describes mothering as a social practice that leads to development of an ethical stance of nonviolence. Both traditions view suffering as the result of oppressive hierarchical concepts, criticize static metaphysical concepts and the priority of theory over practice and view morality as contextual.
