In the belief crisis caused by the social collapse in late Western Jin Dynasty, the spiritual Faramita of the literati was broken down and the traditional value lost its last recourse. Thus, the Qing Tan, with logical analysis as its character, influenced positively the on the social stability in Eastern Jin Dynasty in two ways: on the one hand the literati elite, who were in deep despair as they fled to the South in Yong Jian years, felt again the dignity of life and the value of culture from the humanism permeated in Qing Tan; on the other hand, Qing Tan brought out a free academic atmosphere, gave the Buddhist philosophy the possibility to infiltrate into the deepest layer of the Chinese ideology and connected the Confucian ethic with Buddhist samsara. In this way, Qing Tan found a new supporting point for the ultimate concern of the Chinese people.
