By means of version comparison and philosophical analysis, this thesis points out that the pharase "should non-abidingly exercise the mind", as quoted from the diamond sutra, presents a subtle but significant difference between the Sanskrit original and several Chinese translations, among which the version of Kumarajiva is the most dominant. Moreover, owing to the flexible style of kumarajiva's free translation, this famous and influential phrase inspired Huineng, the sixth patriarch of Zen School, in the perspective pf Buddha Nature's purity, inplace of the dimension of prajnaparamita's de-attachment.
