The Buddhist votive stele No. 10 in Cave 133 of the Maijishan Grottoes, which is made in the late Northern Wei Dynasty, has rich contents and is carved with superb skills. The theme of this votive stele is the assemblage of Sakyamuni Buddha, abreast seated Sakyamuni Buddha and Prabhutaratna, and Maitreya; on the two sides of the stele, scenes from the life of Buddha are carved. This stele has completely got rid of the "xiugu qingxiang(slender build and graceful look)" art style since the reign of Emperor Xiaowen and clearly shows the influence of the sculpture of the Longmen Grottoes. This votive stele not only represents the art level of the Buddhist art in the Northern Dynasties Period, but also a masterpiece of the traditional sculpture of ancient China.
