This paper discusses the contribution of the Lo Archive to the study of Dunhuang art by briefly outlining the physical features of the archive, including James Lo’s materials and methods, situating the archive within the practice of expeditionary and documentary photography, and highlighting its importance as a resource for historical, cultural, and artistic research in Dunhuang studies.
