Abstract | 本文試從佛光文化出版的《畫說十大弟子》改編僧傳著手,探究如何透過改編重塑聖者的當代形象,並以此建構當代佛教生命教育的實踐範示。 透過視覺的圖象符號分析,認為此書運用不同媒介系統的結合形塑聖者形象為其改編特色,而運用照片、圖畫等不同媒介系統所再現聖者形象的內涵,一是以佛教照片的事實引用,協助讀者在其自身的文化脈絡下感知符號的意義;二是運用圖畫語彙翻譯並重顯抽象的佛教觀念。而對於佛教生命教育的實踐範示,則分從二部分探討。一是在文字與圖象的交互指涉中,探究生命意義空缺如何由讀者填補,並在填補中開展自身生命的意義。另外,則從讀者接受及詮釋的理解中,探究適應讀者接受而建構的生命教育範示,其內涵有三:一是慧命承襲的共同典範。二是教育的學習模範。三是建構學佛者的聖者典型。
This paper explains how the comic book published by Fo Guang Shan, The Ten Great Disciples, and its depiction of the esteem of eminent monks, can serve as a model of Buddhist Life Education for the present day. This paper analyses the combinations of imagery as well as symbolism, and argues that both embody the essence of the esteem of eminent monks whilst also conveying the meaning of Buddhist concepts. With regards to being examples of the modern-day practice of Buddhist Life Education, the author discusses two aspects. First, the interaction between words and pictures helps one find personal answers and inspiration for one’s spiritual quest. Second, through comprehension and acceptance of this comic book, it can serve as a model of Buddhist Life Education, exemplifying the life pursuit of wisdom, learning, and spiritual cultivation. |
