Abstract 華嚴與唯識二宗之學,本皆祖述印度大乘瑜伽行派,在唐代均曾巍為顯學,然二宗理論向度卻頗有異同,在中國佛學史上呈現出了兩條不同的思想徑路。本文以華嚴學「三性同異」、「因門六義」以及種姓論等義理體系對唯識學名相的沿用和重新詮釋為視角,探討二宗思想徑路的基本分野。華嚴學之思維方法,對待一切事理,皆理解為相反相成的關係,最終而視為同一,可名之為「圓融的理路」;唯識學的方法則注重分析,條理井然,當可名之「分析的理路」。通過比較二宗的種姓論對於人性問題的觀照,則可發現唯識學之種姓觀近於現實主義的維度,而華嚴學在這一問題上更近於理想主義。唯識學與華嚴學涇渭分明的理論性格,共同構成了中國大乘佛教思想的重要兩極。
