Abstract | 《妙法蓮華經》(Saddharmapuṇḍārīka Sūtra)簡稱《法華經》是大乘佛教最重要的經典之一,自被傳譯到中國後,歷代不斷有高僧大德對其進行注釋,其中尤以天臺宗實際創始者智顗(538-597)的注釋影響至深。智顗注釋《法華經》的兩部專書,《法華玄義》、《法華文句》再加上《摩訶止觀》被稱為天臺三大部,是天臺宗重要依據的典籍。智顗在《法華玄義》中以「五重玄義」的釋經方法,將佛學之精華盡收於該書之中。尤其是「五重玄義」的釋名一項,便以《妙法蓮華經》五個字來作為全體佛學之綱目。而與智顗處在同一朝代的三論宗吉藏(549-623),對法華經也注釋了五部專書:《法華玄論》、《法華遊意》、《法華義疏》、《法華論疏》和《法華統略》,吉藏注釋《法華經》的專書比較智顗還多了兩部。智顗與吉藏雖然處於相同的朝代,但他們卻來自不同的師承背景,智顗是師承於慧思禪師,學習法華三昧,更繼承慧文「一心三觀」、「圓融三諦」思想。吉藏則透過其所謂「關河舊說」、「攝嶺相承」之般若、中觀理論為基礎來詮釋《法華經》。由於師承的背景不同、所依據之理論不同、所使用方法也不同,因此,智顗與吉藏詮釋《法華經》亦各自展現出其個人的風格與特色,這正是本論文所要研究的方向。
The Fahua Jing(Saddharmapuṇḍārīka Sūtra) is one of the most important sutras of Mahayana Buddhism, and since its translation into China, it has been unceasing annotated by eminent monks of many dynasties, especially the actual founder of the Tiantai School ─ Zhi-yi (538-597), whose commentaries were deeply affected. Zhi-yi annotated two special books of The Fahua Jing ─ The Fahua Xuanyi(The Profund Meaning of the Fahua Sutra) and The Fahua Wengou(Textual Commentary on the Fahua Sutra), together with The Moho Chihkuan (Great Śamatha-vipasyanā ), are known as three major volumes of the Tiantai School, which are very important basis of the texts of the Tiantai School. Zhi-yi collected the essence of Buddhism by means of the interpretation of "Fivefold mysterious meanings" in The Fahua Xuanyi. Especially in the naming of the "Fivefold mysterious meanings", the five words of "Miao Fa Lian Hua Jing" were used as the main compendium of the whole Buddhism. Being the same dynasty as Zhi-yi of the Three-Treatise School─Ji-zang(549-623), who also annotated a number of special books to The Fahua Jing, including The Fahua Jing Xuanlan(The Profund Meaning of the Fahua Jing), The Fahua Jing Youyi(The Roaming Meaning of of the Fahua Jing), The Fahua Yishu(The Annotation on the Meaning of the Fahua Jing), The Fahua Lunshu(The Commentary of the Fahua Jing) and The Fahua Tongliak(The Summary and Brief of the Fahua Jing) total five books, which were above and beyond the writings of Zhi-yi . Although Zhi-yi and Ji-zang were living in the same dynasty, but they came from different background of the succession of the masters. Zhi-yi succeeded from Huisi Zen master and learned Fahua samādhi, more over, he inherited the thought of "One-mindedness of the threefold contemplation", "Harmony of the Threefold truths". Ji-zang interpreted The Fahua Jing on the basis of so-called "Old saying Guan River " and "The succession of (dharma-lineage of) She Mountain" of the prajñā and madhyamakā theories. Because of the their background of the succession of the masters, the theories based and the methods used were differnt, therefore, the interpretations of the Zhi-yi and Ji-zang on The Fahua Jing also displayed their own personal style and characteristic, which is the direction of this paper to study. |
