Abstract | 本文旨在探討當代台灣佛教寺院老病僧照護的現況。首先通過三個佛教寺院的主事者、照護者、被照護者之田野口述訪談及參與觀察,蒐集當代台灣三個佛教寺院老病僧照護的現況。輔以分析《十誦律》、《四分律》、《摩訶僧祇律》、《五分律》四部戒律有關老病照護之規範與太虛法師對老病院的規劃理念,藉以呈現當代佛教寺院老病照護之成立要素。 初步研究發現,四部律典之規範包含三個層面,一是提供病僧藥、食等照護,這是規範眾僧;其次,病僧要能配合醫治等,這是規範病僧;最後,病僧要能修法,能觀五蘊生滅、觀無常等,這是規範病僧。而現代寺院老病照護的成立必須具備二大條件,一是外在部分,包括共住者的互動、個人醫療保險、全民健保等資源;二是內在部分,包括主事者的理念、規劃及僧伽修持法門。 根據初步研究結果可以提出以下建議,寺院老病照護模式主要包含設置醫療資源、醫療保險及主事者的支持老病照護等;其中尤以主事者的理念為關鍵因素,主事者的理念能讓老病僧尼得到安住,也提高其他僧尼安住寺院的意願。在遭遇老病時,通過修持法門也能使身心保持平衡,提升僧伽身心安住。
This study aims to explore the current situation of sick and elderly monastic members in Buddhism temples in modern Taiwan. Firstly, the researcher tried to understand of the current caring condition of sick and elderly monastic members through the interview with the master, the care personnel, and the cared members as well as visit observation in three Buddhism temples. The four disciplinary scriptures of Daśa-bhāṇavāra-vinaya, Dharmagupta-vinaya, Mahasangha-vinaya, and Mahīsasakavinaya were also analyzed for the regulations on caring of the sick and the elders as well as Master Taixu’s plans and ideas for caring homes of the sick and elders, through which the researcher shall present the establishment elements of caring systems in modern Buddhism temples. Regarding the initial findings, regulations in the four scriptures cover three layers: the first is to provide medicine and food supplies to the sick monks, which is to regulate all monks; the second is the sick monks’ cooperation, which is to regulate them; the last is to allow sick monks make practice and observe five aggregates of clinging as well as impermanence. For establishment of caring system in modern Buddhism temples, two requirements must be satisfied. One is the external part, which includes interaction of the monks, personal medical insurance, national health insurance, and other resources, and the other is the internal part, covering ideas and plans of the master plus the convention of the sangha. Based on the said findings, the following suggestions are proposed: caring system of the sick and elders in temples primarily contains providing medical resources, health insurance, and the master’s support to the system itself. Ideas of the master are especially essential, as such ideas allow secured place of living of sick or elderly monks, in turn increasing other monks’ willingness in living in the temples. When they encounter issues of aging and diseases, they can also maintain physical and mental balance through practicing, thereby enhancing their sense of reassurance. |
