Abstract | Modern "Constructivist" Accounts Of Mysticism (Steven Katz,Robert Gimello,Wayne Proudfoot etc.),Which Maintain That Mystical periences Result From The Constructive,World-Building Mental Activities, Are Compared With (9th C. Yogacara Buddhist) Paramartha's Constructivism. Both Argue That Generally Experiences Result From The Shaping Ingluences of Background Set,Beliefs, etc. Modern Constructivists Hold That Such Construction Apply As Described to Mysticism. Paramartha Aramartha However Holds That Constructive Activities Are The Initiating Problematic of the Buddhist Path:in Mystical States They Cease Utterly. Artile Argues for Paramartha, Suggesting that There are two Epistemological Structures:Ordinary (Conditioned) And Mystical (Unconditioned). |
