Abstract本文在廖明活、華方田和劉元琪等先生的相關研究之基礎上,對淨影寺慧遠判教的依據、方法、特點、規趣和其間存在的問題進行了重新考察,指出:慧遠判教之依據即其佛學系統之所依體真識心,其判教所用之方法則是由真識心中引申出的總別圓融觀。慧遠的判教思想有破與立兩個方面,就破而言,他不贊成劉虯的「二教」與「五時七階」說,同時亦非難菩提流支的一音教。就立而言,他從總別圓融觀出發判釋一代時教具以下要義:1.約別相門論,佛陀一代言教有聲聞和菩薩二乘,並依悟入方式的差別于小乘中開分出聲聞聲聞和緣覺聲聞,于大乘中開分出一越解大的頓教和由小入大的漸教。依此二乘,慧遠進一步分判出了立性、破性、破相、顯實四宗,四宗間存在淺深、權實的差異,由立性宗、破性宗、破相宗而顯實宗,逐漸由淺入深,從權入實。2.約總相門論,三乘皆方便,一乘為究竟,三乘皆歸一佛乘;同時三宗皆權,惟顯實宗為實,三宗皆趣向顯實宗。慧遠的判教觀呈現出的最顯著特點是權實兼顧而歸本一佛乘和顯實宗。慧遠雖建立了獨具匠心的判教思想,但亦存在著問題,他在教上等視大乘經典與在宗內區分大乘教理淺深的不一致性雖可以通過會通加以消解,但他有時將小乘的偏空思想當成破相宗的教理仍然表明其判教思想上不夠縝密。
