This article shows that the time dilation effect and quantum collapse effect are likely homologous. The time dilation effect refers to the slowing of time in the theory of relativity. This paper attempts to prove that the time dilation effect and the quantum collapse effect are caused by the observation of observers. The special theory of relativity and quantum mechanics are respectively based on light-speed constancy and wave-particle duality. These two foundations are fundamentally weird and cannot be separated from the “observation of observers”. The degree of weirdness of light-speed constancy is no less than that of wave-particle duality, and it is puzzling that the physics community has noted only the latter and not the former. As a result, despite the general awareness of the innate weirdness of quantum mechanics, the weirdness of the special theory of relativity has been overlooked. Loss of sensitivity produces a loss of insight, and thus no one can grasp the fact that the special theory of relativity and quantum mechanics are homologous theories (because both are rooted in the weird observer effect). The power of the special theory of relativity is derived from light-speed constancy, while the power of quantum mechanics is derived from wave-particle duality. However, the physics community has long avoided seeking a thorough understanding of these two phenomena. As a result, we have been unable to produce scientific theories that provide a deeper and more complete understanding that relativity and quantum mechanics, or to develop new theories that are more comprehensive and powerful, and must currently be satisfied with using superficial phenomena to calculate superficial phenomena. The key to identifying a common source for relativity and quantum mechanics lies in breaking through the observer effect. The first step is to clarify misconceptions held by the mainstream physics community in regards to the Twin paradox. The crux of this paradox lies in the observer, not in the acceleration, because it is a logical contradiction derived from the mystery of light-speed constancy. Showing that the time dilation effect and the quantum collapse effect are triggered by “observer’s awareness” would pierce the barrier between subjective and objective reality. These subjectivity-objectivity exchanges (mind-matter exchanges) are highly significant, and may also trigger a revolution in multiple domains including physics, world outlook, philosophy, medicine, aerospace technology and industrial technologies.
