From a Buddhist morphological perspective, the essence of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Humanistic Buddhism is based on the modern concept of Buddhist-benevolence. In this era’s globalization and modernity, Humanistic Buddhists, anchored on compassion and wisdom, fully practice self-indictment and benevolence. This study combines the hermeneutical analysis of benevolence and the ideology presented in Buddha-Dharma: Pure and Simple―a new publication by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. With a focus on Venerable Master’s ideas of upholding precepts and good affinities with others, the morphology and genealogy of Buddhist-benevolence are examined.
