| 抄録 | 玄奘法師是個虔誠的佛教徒、旅行家、哲學家、翻譯家，是中西交通和中外文化交流的傑出使者和世界文化名人。
本論文主要是研究《大唐西域記》的阿育王故事，以此探討阿育王廣造佛塔的因緣與對佛教之影響和貢獻。《大唐西域記》為唐代高僧玄奘法師所作，其敘述除了有關佛教大小乘諸部傳播之實情外，舉凡地理、風俗、語言、傳說、產業、政治等，也都有詳細之記載，是一部綜合宗教、地理、歷史之鉅作。裡面記載的阿育王故事，不僅內容曲折生動有趣，而且所隱含的因果報，可為借鏡。
本文共分五章：
第一章提出研究動機與目的，再列舉前人的文獻資料，接著說明本文的研究範圍與方法，最後敘述本文架構。第二章對《大唐西域記》的背景做個交代，先介紹作者玄奘法師的生平，再敘述《大唐西域記》的成書因緣以及內容組織架構。第三章由孔雀王朝開始說起，再說及阿育王的生平事略，接著敘述阿育王的法敕及對佛教的護持。第四章由《大唐西域記》中有關阿育王成王因果說起，接著敘述與其有關之故事和所建佛塔、石柱、寺廟……等，各則故事，皆另立標題加以分析，最後探討阿育王所建佛塔。第五章對《大唐西域記》和阿育王的故事，對佛教、西域和中亞的影響，作一總結。
Xuanzang Master is a pious Buddhist, traveler, philosopher, translator, an outstanding envoy of Chinese and western traffic, and Chinese and foreign cultures, and a celebrity of world cultures.
This study researches into Asoka′s stories in “Buddhist Records of the Western World during the Great Tang Dynasty” (TA-TANG-SI-YU-KI) to probe into the cause of Asoka′s building many stupas and his influence and contribution to Buddhism. This book is narrated by Xuanzang Master. It discusses the diffusion of the Mahayana and Hinayana among the peoples, and has detailed records of geography, culture, language, myth, industry, and politics. It is a masterpiece of religion, geography, and history. Asoka′s stories in this book are intricate, vivid and interesting, and their cause and effect should be a perfect model for everyone.
This paper is dived into five chapters.The first chapter encompasses the motivation of this research, literature review, the area of research, research method, and the final part is the structure of the text. The second chapter illustrates the background of “Buddhist Records of the Western World”. The third chapter starts with Maurya Dynasty. Next, it talks about Asoka′s biographical sketch, Asoka′s edict, and his protection and maintenance towards Buddhism. The fourth chapter start with the cause and effect of Asoka′s being a king. Next, it describes related stories and stupas, corbels, temples that Asoka′s built and so on. It sets up titles for every story to analyze. In the end, it probes into stupas that Asoka′s built. The fifth chapter makes a conclusion about this book and Asoka′s stories’ influence on Buddhism, Central Asia, and the Western Regions. |
