| 抄録 | 本論文旨在探討悟明長老在生活中如何推行觀音法門及其行為與思想如何影響弟子們。
觀音法門在佛教界一直是許多佛教研修者熟悉精進的法門，觀世音菩薩的感應之事不勝枚舉。悟明長老出家後以佛心為己心，護國衛教，講經說法不遺餘力。發揚慈悲喜捨的精神，奉獻自我、普種善根、行菩薩道、熱衷助學、慈善救濟、設立診所等，又常出席佛教活動，被推舉為世界佛教僧伽會永久名譽會長。長老曾說：「只要我老悟明在的地方，我就代表佛注。」
悟明長老在台灣首倡禮拜大悲懺，發廣大道心，教持大悲神咒，又其專持大悲咒治好折磨八個多月的鼻疾，世人尊其為「觀音老人」。
長老勤於寫日記與閱讀，記載其人生中的每個片段。弟子將其結集出版回憶錄，以緬懷長老為眾生、為佛教的崇高行誼。這是他一生出家、修行、弘法的珍貴記錄。長老作育英才無數，奔走海內外不畏艱難辛苦，譽滿全球。八十歲時還帶領弟子到中國北京弘法。其為佛教付出的心血，足以作為後人的典範。
民國一百年長老以一百零二歲之高齡，圓寂於觀世音音菩薩成道日。信眾除悲傷不捨，也極敬佩悟明長老生死自在的修持。弟子秉其生前心願，坐缸建塔，供奉於海明寺明園，供人禮拜，持續為眾生說法，印證「肉身雖死，法身常在」。
This paper aims to discuss how Venerable Wu-Ming promoted and implemented the Avalokiteshvara approach, and how his ideas and behaviors influenced his disciples.
The Avalokiteshvara approach is one of the approaches that many Buddhists are familiar with and practice hard in the field of Buddhism. The stories about Bodhisattva are too numerous to list out. After becoming a monk, Venerable Wu-Ming made his mind to bear Buddha’s heart in his mind, protect the country and reserve Buddhism, and preach the principles of Buddhism to this world. Venerable Wu-Ming was also elected as an emeritus president of the World Buddhist Sangha Council. He not only carried forward the spirit of Mercy, Compassion, Joy, Giving, but also endeavored to practice the path of Bodhisattva, developed the charity fund to help students and the poor, and attended the Buddhism-related activities. “Wherever I am, there is a stream of Buddhism,” he said.
Venerable Wu-Ming is the first person in Taiwan to promote the worship of the Compassion Repentance. He taught the great mercy mantra to everyone and even cured his 8-month lasting nose problem by chanting the great mercy mantra. People thus called him Guan- In- Lao- Ren.
Venerable Wu-Ming was diligent in writing a diary and reading, and recording each moment in his life. His disciples collected and published his notes as a biography for people to memorize his greatness. This biography provides many valuable records of Venerable Wu-Ming’s becoming a monk, practicing Buddhism Dharma, and preaching Buddhism Dharma. With his teaching a number of students domestically and abroad, his name is well known in this world. He has ever preached the Buddhism Dharma with his disciples in Beijing at his age of 80. His efforts put for the area of Buddhism are enough to make him a good example of Buddhist for future generations.
Venerable Wu-Ming dies in the age of 102 and on the day of Commemoration of the Enlightenment of Bodhisattva Kuan-Yin. Although his disciples and followers were very sad, they also admired his carefree attitude when facing the death. According to his last wish, his disciples put his dead body in a vat at Ming-Yuan so that the followers can worship him as usual. It demonstrates that his spirit is not dying with the body but staying in this world to teach Buddhism Dharma. |
