抄録 | Schopenhauer's emphasis on the will distinguishes his philosophy from Buddhist thought, with which it is often compared. Comparison with the Old Wisdom School of early Buddhism, the Prajnaparamita of Mahayana Buddhism,Nagarjuna, and the Yogacara School reveals specific similarities and differences with the essential elements of Schopenhauer's philosophy. The relation between Will and Representation in Schopenhauer parallels the relation between nirvana and samsara in the Prajnaparamita and Nagarjuna. However, all Buddhist schools emphasize knowledge as essential for salvation rather than the will. |
