抄録 | 明治28年(1895)臺灣淪為日本之殖民地。戰時,日本軍隊中配置的佛教從軍僧侶亦隨日軍入臺,臨濟宗妙心寺派雖比他派較晚進臺,但有總督兒玉源太郎之助緣,於是開始在臺積極地布教。 日治時期黃玉灼與姊姊黃玉霞,因臨濟宗妙心寺派在臺之第八任布教監督高林玄寶的介紹,前後兩次赴日留學。第一次於昭和11年(1936)至愛知縣的宗榮尼眾學林念書,由訪談玉灼女士中,可瞭解該派當時之於尼僧的教育及嚴格的托缽訓練。更得知高林在臺期間,致力於佛學教育,於昭和11年(1936)至15年(1940)中,培養多位臺灣弟子,給予「玄」字輩之法號,送至日本進修,期待日後這些弟子能提升臺灣民眾佛學之素養,並賦予在臺布教之任務,防止該派主要寺廟為他派所拉攏,以鞏固在臺之教勢。 宗榮尼眾學林的老師─澤木弘道尼,於昭和15年(1940)被派遣來臺布教。臨濟宗先派遣日籍尼僧來臺,以佛教講習會先訓練臺灣之尼眾,待日後於尼眾學林留學之臺籍尼僧們回臺後,即可為該派之尼僧教育注入新血。昭和17年(1942)春,兩姊妹畢業回臺後,於東港明德堂舉行之佛教講習會協助弘道尼,並認識該會之講習生——素道尼。次年昭和18年(1943)兩姊妹又赴臨濟學院留學,並將素道尼帶至宗榮尼眾學林念書。昭和21年(1946)兩姊妹畢業,玉灼女士先歸臺,兩年後回臺的姊姊玉霞則活躍於南部各寺廟幫忙傳授佛學。戰後,素道尼回國,得知昔日恩師弘道尼在臺,便特請弘道尼住持廣修禪寺。 高林致力栽培的弟子們回臺後,有的擔任寺廟住持宣傳佛法,或為佛學教育盡心,亦有介紹後學赴日進修,玉灼女士與廣修禪寺住眾至今仍與該派之寺院保持聯絡,高林的尼僧弟子們戰後仍傳承臨濟宗妙心寺派在臺之法脈。
In 1895, Taiwan became Japan’s colony, Japanese Buddhism came into Taiwan with Japanese military. The Myoshin-ji School of the Rinzai sect, came into Taiwan latter than other sects, but by the help from the Governor-General Gentaro Kodama, the Rinzai sect started to proselytizing active. Huang Yuzhuo and Huang Yuxia, her elder sister, went to Japan twice for studying Buddhism during the Japanese Colonial Period. They were recommended by Takabayasi-genpo, the 8th chief inspector of the Myoshin-ji School of the Rinzai sect in Taiwan. In 1936, it was the first time they went to the Souei Nun School in Achi County. From the interview, We knew they learned how to train the nun through the strict religious practice and meditation. Furthermore, during the period of Takabayasi-genpo staying in Taiwan, he dedicated to Buddhist education, as well as cultivated many nuns to study abroad from 1936 to 1940. Koutou nun, a teacher of the Souei Nun School, preached Buddhism in Taiwan in 1940. In 1942 the sisters returned to Taiwan and helped Koutou nun in Buddhist seminar, also met Sutou nun. Next year they studied at the Rinzai college and brought Sutou nun to the Souei Nun School. The sisters graduated in 1946. In 1949 Sutou nun completed her study and came back to Taiwan. Knewing that Koutou nun was in Taiwan, Sutou nun invited her to Guangxiu temple. Koutou nun, a Japanese nun, died at Taiwan in 1989. When those students, who were cultivated by Takabayasi-genpo, came back to Taiwan after completing their studies, they teached Buddhism and preached in temples and the Buddhist groups. They really passed down and preached the Buddhism in Taiwan.
