| 抄録 | 阿育王是佛典中為人所熟知的國王，對佛教發展作出多方
貢獻。本文則討論阿育王以正法治國在古代印度思想史上的重
大意義。文章第一部分從阿育王敕令碑銘被發現與解讀談起，
接著探討阿育王之正法思想跟初期佛教之關係，以及正法當為
一社會倫理對於婆羅門社會之重大衝擊。論文後半部評論婆羅
門正統如何在孔雀王朝之後進行重建工作。此一部分先討論印
度教史詩與法論作品如何回應阿育王正法相關思想，最後詳細
考察印度教住期法。於此方案中，佛教與阿育王所推出的在家
配合出家之理想社會，已為種姓制度下對家居者宗教社會責任
之首要關切所加取代。
King Aśoka is a well-known figure in the Buddhist scriptures.
He made manifold contribution to the development of Buddhism.
This essay then explores the grave implications of Aśokan
dhamma in ancient Indian intellectual history. The first part starts
with the discovery and decipherment of Aśokan edicts. It then
investigates the relationship between Aśokan dhamma and early
Buddhism, and a profound impact of Aśokan dhamma as social
ethics on Brahmanical society. The second part deals with the
Brahmanical reconstruction of new socio-intellectual order in
response to Aśokan dhamma. It begins with the exploration of
Hindu epics and dharma treatises as important steps of restoring
orthodoxy. Here, a detailed examination of Hindu
varṇāśramadharma is carried out. In this scheme, Buddhist and
Aśokan ideal society of the cooperation between gahaṭṭha and
pabbajita is replaced by the paramount concern of socio-religious
obligations of the householder in caste society |
