\r\n\r\n\u8b1b\u5e2b\u3000\r\n\u30bf\u30a4\u30e2\u30f3\u30fb\u30b9\u30af\u30ea\u30fc\u30c1\u6c0f\uff08\u56fd\u969b\u65e5\u672c\u6587\u5316\u7814\u7a76\u30bb\u30f3\u30bf\u30fc\u6559\u6388\uff09\r\n\r\nVisitors to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Nikk\u014d see architectural and imagistic evidence of the cult of the deceased first Tokugawa shogun as a kami. However, it should be remembered that Nikk\u014d was not Ieyasu\u2019s first resting place, nor was he only a kami. One year after being buried in Shizuoka, indeed as a kami, he was exhumed, moved to Nikk\u014d, and turned into a kami-avatar. This talk will consider the reasons for this change, and also their implications, including leading to the all-important rebuilding of Nikk\u014d for the twenty-first anniversary of Ieyasu\u2019s death in 1636.
